PostSubject: Track Bar Woes   Mon Jun 30, 2008 7:10 pm

So... found part of my death wobble woes...

As usual a few small problems made a bigger problem...

Last year at Big Dogs (oddly... the ONLY one I have been able to attend so far)... I shifted the front axle...

To get it drive-able as a temporary fix I installed a Currie adjustable track bar...

"Supposedly" it was designed for 0-6" of lift...

Well... it looks closer to minimum of 3" or my springs are REALLY starting to sag.

Since my tire clearance has not changed... I will guess I need more lift...

Only have 2" suspension lift right now... Body lift doesn't effect the suspension arms...

The issue is that the bolt comes straight down as it should, but the johnny joint (I think johnny on it)... makes the bolt go through the joint on an angle... almost maxed out...

I don't think it was like this when Danny and I put it in last year... never looked this angled when I greased it either...

Added to that, when I turn my wheel, the bolt shifts in the hole a little... like the hole thru the frame mount is egging out...

I was thinking short term fix would be to get a piece of steel... drill a 9/16th hole, and have someone weld it to the mount to get rid of the egging problem...

Long term I need to get a lift suitable for the bar, and hope it comes with a new bracket I can get welded in (Like Bobbi's Max)

Just something to add to my list...

That problem sounds all too familiar....

The solution I ended up with was to drill a bigger hole and use a bigger bolt. Meant making some changes to the endsm but it worked.

It was also suggested to me to weld the right sized washer to the bracket to make the hole the right size again.

Anyway, let me know if you need any "help"

Bigger bolt may not fit through the joint. washer will egg out easily too, tried that before. I've done the fix with metal you mentioned and it worked just fine. Mine egged out because the bolt came loose. just make sure you solve the source of the problem too.
