| I do regret putting in a 44 but only because I have a 14bolt in the rear. I wish I could do it all over again and either do a 9" in the rear and keep the tire size now. or run 60/14 and bigger tires. if you were going to run bigger tires you might be pushing the limit of the 9" you have now unless you have 35 spine shafts. To me there is a big step after 37's. |

| Even though I'm not convinced the 44 is right for me...I trust you guys. You all know a hell of a lot more than I do and none of you would steer me wrong. Everybody has given me something to think about and there are pros and cons no matter which way I go.
So.....while I'm feeling open minded....if one of you can find me a good 44 and you guys will help me with it....I'll go that way. I have only done reasearch on the 9" and I know nothing about the 44s so I'll have to count on you to find one for me and then tell me what I have to do to it.
Anybody interested? |

| I should point out that my 9" rear has 35 spline shafts and I still broke 3 teeth off the ring gear. And the ARB sucks ass. _________________ Proud Member of Mid-Atlantic Rough Riders

| what bolt pattern are you running? Are you 5 on 4.5 front and rear? I'm confused because I thought you had 5 on 5.5 spare tire. If so your front had to be converted to 5 on 5.5? _________________ Proud Member of Mid-Atlantic Rough Riders

I'm 5 on 4.5 including spare so I'll need to be converted to 5 on 5.5. |

Did not know your 9 had 35 spline shafts. I know how you feel about ARB. Your luck with them has sucked - maybe it has something to do with the high pinion 9 as opposed to the low 9 (just a guess - I have no idea if there is a difference). I have had no problem with mine other than the one air line problem that was a quick fix. I'm going to keep with them for the front. I really like having a selectable locker. |

| I though all 9" rears were 5 on 5.5 . Yours must have been converted to 5 on 4.5 or I'm just plain wrong. My front ARB works fine so far but the rear hasn't worked since the second comp. team Red Bull has been having a lot of problems with them as well and reports clutch gear failures in the ARB. I'm determined to fix mine so I'm going to tear it into little pieces tomorrow. _________________ Proud Member of Mid-Atlantic Rough Riders

| This is what I found on the Currie site for a rear 9" housing and axle package for a YJ:
Features the 9-Plus notch back heavy duty housing and 31 spline performance axle package built to the stock overall width and pinion offset specs. of the vehicle. Axles include the 5 on 4 ½” and 5 on 5 ½” wheel bolt patterns drilled in them, and wheel studs installed in the stock 5 on 4 ½” pattern, ¼” thick heavy duty bearing retainer plates, and tapered Timken style wheel bearings pressed on.
I'm glad I looked this up because it looks I may be able to change the bolt pattern on the Currie shafts I have and not have to buy new ones - I'll have to get them out and take a look. |
