man this is taking me a long time just to get it where i think i can take it on the trails, i will post pics later. i still have to make a front driveshaft, hook electric up to fan, re-allign my steering for more turn radius.do some more welding, fill up all my fluids, install a floor for my feet (dont want to be flintstone) , fix my parking brake , install rear shocks and paint the buggy frame. then hopefully it runs good without overheating and all when i push it

Its been a long time since an update... but sadly its because there hasn't been much to report on Blue...

Til now...

Last weekend I FINALLY had a chance to pick up a motor... $150 for a motor out of a 2000 Cherokee... it was hit on the rear end... motor had 70K on it... so about even to what I have in it now.

Drove to PA to get it, and now it sits in the back of the Jeep.

I have some stuff that I will have to swap over (oil filter adapter, water pump/pulley set up, clutch ...

Ok so while the gas was drying on the CJ motor Ryan and Nester helped to realign the power steering pulley. It no longer squeels at idle but I will have to take it for a test run through the neighborhood. Hopefully it will fix the problem of the belt being thrown every time the motor gets wet. Next on the list:

1. 9" currie rear axle tube is leaking out the drivers side again. I'm gonna take it apart and see if it needs a new seal or something.

2. Thump in drivetrain and clutch ...

Ok so the other thread was getting too long and too many things have changed so I'm starting a new one.

The rear is at 61.5" and will go out 1 inch with adaptors and/or will go with a backspacing of 3.25" for the rear wheels. I am going to keep the 8 lug wheels and change the rear to 8 lug.

I need to get 16 or 17" wheels to have enough room for the calipers. Tire sizes are a pain for those sizes - basically going from 36" to 39.5" with nothing in the ...

SO after many months of my rear ARB not functioning I finally have a fix. I had a couple of problems going on. first of all the seal housing of the RD99 was too far out on the flange cap assembly so the seal would slip off the end and leak air. that has been fixed but the locker would still not function. So I tore it apart this weekend and compared the locker to the pictures and found some internal damage. The internals are quite simple and includes spider gears and a clutch gear that slides ...

So Sunday I blew the dust... err... mud off my tools and started wrenching.

Looks like the seal on the water pump is going.

So the search began... called a few parts stores, then the dealer... and then the 4wd catalog...

I would really like to put in a high flow pump from 4wd. Problem is the cut off is 2002. I thought all i6 4.0L were created equal ...

So far I have replaced:

Starter (2 times)

Fuel Pump, gas tank and skid

Coil

ignition switch

relay (fuel pump)

Last month I replaced the fuel pump and I thought I could hear it come on when the key was turned to ON. I tried to start it so ...

4L oil pan

I am looking for a new project vehicle. I have a wrecked camaro with LS1 + tranny, all wires/pcu complete. I'm looking to install this in a jeep as the foundation of my on/off road vehicle. Just in the planning stages now so if anyone has any words of advice then now is the time to speak up. the plan is to build a vehicle that would be just as road worthy as it is off road capable. Drive longer trips like skyline drive and be able to negotiate black trails. not determined yet is suspension ...
